About Me

As a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist I believe that everyone can make changes to improve their lives. Getting the right help, at the right time, from the right person can really influence your view about how successful your therapy is.

My personal experience with cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy was transformative. My only regret was that I didn’t do it sooner! As well as helping to reduce the impact of health issues, it seemed like part of the therapy was also an education on how to deal with life!

Key to my approach, when working 1:1, is getting to know you and what matters to you, because everyone is different and no two people experience life in the same way. I work collaboratively with you, inviting you to be actively involved in your therapeutic journey – if I just ‘did the therapy’ to you, it would have limited value!

Having studied psychology and education, holding various roles in education and as a teacher of over 20 years’ experience, I’m always interested to learn more and support the education and development of others, so I trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, achieving a level 5 higher diploma, certified by the NCFE, a qualification recognised by the British Psychological Society.

I wouldn’t describe myself a teachery-therapist(!), and that will mean different things to different people, but I do bring my values and skills as a teacher to the therapeutic situation. Not just by actively involving you in your therapy but making it relevant to you and your context. Combined with clear psychoeducation to empower you to understand yourself better, I support you to explore what it is that’s keeping you stuck, whilst nurturing both your hope and expectation that you can make changes. It’s my role to provide cheer and challenge – it’s your role to commit to helping yourself.

I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register, hold their SQHP qualification and am bound by their code of ethics, which includes regular supervision and continuous professional development. I carry full insurance and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
